I am really liking the vibe at 0:46 - nice melodic movement

Nice vibe. I gravitate to rhythm first and often listen to it first. The beat here you have is solid. It could use a few variants, as well as breaks/fills. For example, for most every track I have a MainBeat1, Beat2 variant, Beat 3 variant, then a Break1, Break2, Break3. Then I sprinkle those about. Sometimes in loop sets you see rhythms labelled full, var, top. So, again, suggestion would be to build out two variants of this great beat, and then 3 breaks/fills like at 0:40 and 1:20. An alternative to beat variants is swing in filters or EQ...for example go hard on the kick for 8 bars, or filter the low out then back in. Anything to mix the rhythm up a little for the listener. Have fun!

I'm really gonna have to learn to use Battery more. Drums are really punchy mate. Good stuff
