This is more of a didactic experiment than a musical statement. The first track contains an arpeggio sampled from my Arturia Microbrute. I warped the clip to make it fit the tempo of the project. The second track contains an instrument rack that I created from five samples of a Microbrute patch. The idea was to learn how to use Simpler and create multi samples with it. The lead synth from track 2 was played in a single take and recorded into the arrangement view. It is intentionally off-the-grid, just to create some contrast with the arpeggio and drums that are fixed to the project tempo. The third track contains a drum rack that I created from sampling an Alesis SR-16 and slicing the drum hits to midi. This is a really fast and convenient way of sampling drum sets. The fourth track contains audio sampled from youtube. One of these clips was sliced to midi and sent to track five. Another clip was converted from audio to midi and used to feed Augustus, an incredibly sounding synth created in Max for Live. The noisy chirps heard in the outro are the results of feeding the converted audio-to-midi into the chain. It's nothing melodic, but I like its randomness. I also used this project to show off some of my Audio Damage plugins. I have used RoughRiderPro on the Alesis drum kit, Automaton mangling the audio converted to midi and fed to Augustus, Kombinat DVA and Discord 3 for mangling some of the youtube samples, and EOS in send A. There's some track volume automation, but not much for panning, as I did not feel the need to do so.
