Artist and multi-instrumentalist Valerie Orth integrates live instruments with electronic sounds on her latest pop release Wake You channeling the upbeat warm production of Slyvan Esso to the unexpected rhythms of Tune-Yards. Her songs take you on a journey through relationships and obsessions with often-metaphorical lyrics that are as spell-binding, and are steeped with palpable images. Wake You has been getting a lot of buzz and was praised by Consequence of Sound on her latest premiere.
Valerie has been apart of the Blend community for sometime and is excited to share the stems for “Make Your Move”. She reflected on the inspiration behind the song, sharing "confused by (and practically concerned for) my love interest who didn’t have the balls to step up to the plate and swing, I stood alone in the middle of a room at a lake house, clapped, stomped and sang my heart out until “Make Your Move” came into being. I eventually teamed up with NYC’s Optiks to create this original production using ProTools and Ableton.”
Valerie invites you to remix and put your own spin on “Make Your Move” for a chance to be on the upcoming remix EP due out this year. Here is how to get involved:
- Pull the stems for “Make Your Move”
- Create your remix in your DAW of choice
- Publish your update by April 1st to have your remix submitted for consideration
Valerie along with her producer Optiks and A&R from her label will dig in to review all of the remixes and pick their favorite ones to be included on her upcoming remix EP out next year. Check out the video for "Make Your Move":
