Assignment 3 - Let's call it "Dreaming" for Now, a homage to Joy Division perhaps? Dug up an Old Reason / Protools Session. The Keyboard parts were originally programmed/recorded in Reason which was then Rewired to Protools where they were bounced to individual Audio tracks. The drums were recorded/played using a Roland V Drum Kit driving a BFD2 Plugin Via Midi. BFD2 was configured to pass each drum part including Overhead and room mic simulations out on separate channels which were then recorded into Protools on separate Audio tracks (11 in total). The Bass and Guitar Parts were recorded into Protools using Line 6 Bass Pod and Pod Xt Amp simulators respectively. As the Bass part was played relatively high on the Bass fretboard, I have converted the bass line to midi in Live transposed it down 1 octave and used the Midi to drive a Sub Bass sample to give the set more bottom end. It was a real effort controlling the warp function when importing these various different parts into Live. Live came up with some very interesting Tempo rates. The original Session never included any vocals, so I have quickly Written some lyrics and recorded multiple tracks in Live, (as live does not allow for Multiple takes, comping and crossfades, on a single track), I've taken the best two sections of each of the takes and compiled them into a a couple of Tracks for some good old vocal doubling and the natural chorus effect. The individual vocal tracks required lots of manual Nudging (warping to get the timing correct. I Cheated and used the convolution Reverb in Max for Live on the Reverb Send and a whispering Chorus effect on the vocals to meet the Max for Live component.
