JOPARA is a term in the Guarani language which means mixture or mixing With the start of the tenth month from the mountain will come out a mythical personage called KARAI OCTUBRE (Mister October) . Barefoot and hard-faced man, dressed in the style of the Paraguayan farmer; with a straw hat and carrying a whip challenging. Thence too the tradition of preparing a JOPARA of delicious and abundant ingredients taking unique products, locro (or locrillo) and Kumanda (beans); which accompanied by vegetables (pumpkin, onion, tomato and kuratû) and lots of paraguayan cheese; are boiled for several hours until, about, it becomes one of the most appreciated and delicious typical dishes of Paraguay. The peasant tradition shows annually, the whole family gathered that day around the table, at naptime, to consume jopara and steaming mandioc in preparation to support this month of shortages. And at that time the KARAI OCTUBRE will go through all the homes to ensure a wealth or poverty year. This song is a musical mix (jopara) of those Paraguayan traditions with the collaboration of soundhunters from all over the world.
