I would like to try some fancy multi-band compression because I think the bass+compression is suppressing the rest of the mix too much.

Ok awesome. Thanks for your input. I'm mixing on a very basic set up Logitech pc speakers w/ a sub. It's hard to gauge what it sounds like in the real world sometimes.
