This was a fun course. I obtained my goal in learing more of what Ableton Live can do for me. I'm still a Cubase person at heart. I used LIVE to create clips and import them into Cubase. Now I can do more, but my DAW of choice is still Cubase 9.5 During the course I really didn't focus on songwriting skills. I wanted to meet the objective of learing AL 9.x. In this project I wanted to experiment with layering various instruments together in sync. I took various MIDI clips that I had laying around from prevous ideas and merged them together. Henc the name Scratch Pad. The drums was from recorded media I slowed down and saved as MIDI. I wasn't too thrilled with the drum kit that comes with LIVE so I opened up Battery and put the MIDI into one of my favorite kits. Layering was importiant to me for the completion of this track. The kick was layered, the bass synth was layered. If you listen closely, you can hear that there is more than one DX7 bass synth running the bass line. I had so many things going on in this session, I was really cautious that I would run out of horsepower, but I guess having a ton of cores and memory did pay off. I hope you enjoy the tricks I pulled in this track as much as I did programming them.
