Progress:Ready
Slow piece. Used simple voicings this time and a simple pedal progression in A. Still fighting Ableton and wrote something fitting. Eh, I might not understand it all yet but I am far from tapping out. What a cool program! Wanted to hook up an external sound card and record some (bass)guitar and or plug in a midi wind controller, but I'm still struggling with warping and finding my way around in the program and have been too busy with cool effects like compressors and phasers. Not sure where this assignment is going, just need to upload it before I forget for I nearly forgot to do my week 2 theory as well. As in, not completely finished but I'm happy enough to hand in this assignment as is anyway. Hope everyone is doing great with their assignments, I am off to listen to some of your pieces once this is uploaded to Coursera. Feb 18th. Created a bass line by making a midi copy from my drum part, deleting the hi hats and using the snare and kick to work with. Kept it as simple as possible to make the pedal progression super clear. Tried to hook up an external soundcard and MIDI windcontroller yesterday and failed so miserably I ended up programming my lead by hand today. Shaped my bass and lead sounds. Lead sounds are heavily inspired by Joe Zawinul. Lowered the volume on my voice samples a bit. Wrote the busiest ead first and started deleting from there to make two lesser dense parts. Did volume automation. Oh, and a beer and a scotch when I was done. Might still do some volume control on my strings tomorrow. It's not perfect but I'm a lot happier than yesterday. Hope your projects are going great. Thanks for listening and for sharing your projects. Feb 19th. Did a small update just in time for the deadline today. Just noticed it got extended but I am off to work on project #3. Applied auto pan to my strings. Made a less abrupt ending and I'm calling it a day. Time to go check out what you guys made. Thanks for listening and commenting and thanks for sharing your work. Have a great day!

Thanks again you all for the very kind words and for taking the time to check out my track(s). Can't wait to find out what all of you are making of assignment #3. Haha, I still have to start and some of you are already done. Game on!! :-) By the way @Jeff Cloke, thanks for pointing out the sudden ending. Had two extra measures at the end, but there was a clip looped, so it just cut off. Your comment made me go over it again until I found the problem. Thanks, made the track better in my ears.

@jockster x Those drums are called Rock-72 and come from a free standard Ableton pack that came with suite. The same loop with the percussion and the break on the end is called Drums-Did2 Dub Loop 8 72BPM Still finding my way in the program so if I want to have my assignments ready in time it makes most sense to me to search for components by bpm. :-) Thanks for the kind words.

Hey bud, you are doing what you need to do. Figuring things out little by little like the rest of us. Just takes a lot of time. You are def tweeking the sounds well.

Youre fighting Ableton? You seem to have it working really well to my ears. Great stuff, lets me feel and see the ability of the software with the limits that were put on us.

Zniborz, Definitely some cool things going on here. Very unique sound! A MIDI wind controller would be awesome, they can be very expressive sounding. Ahhh.. Joe Zawinul.I was fortunate to see him with Weather Report many moons ago... Sounds like you're well on your way with Ableton...

Nice groove, I really like the kind of reagge, the silences, the changes of rythm patterns... At the very end Ableton is just a tool, and regardless the issues we all are facing, this is a great work!
