Composition based on a picture of a train. I will attempt to load this picture. It was part of a monthly composition competition so i thought i'd do this assignment and take part in the competition at the same time.

@davilone i definitely will go back and put more time into this with a final mastering and i wanted to put in stuff like that but i only have so many free hours in a week trying to keep up with this course.

Good job! I'm definitely hearing some Trent Reznor there. I woul'd love some kind of machinery sounds in the beat, but works fine like that...

Definitely some NIN in there! And modern Numan. Could benefit from being a bit darker, but nice sounds!

I like it! I like the inspiration you used. This sounds just like the train in the picture. Very imaginative, thanks for posting!

@Pat Hargan @Kurt Kleine I just figured out how to add peoples' names to replies :)

Pat getting the drums to sound like a train was part of the fun of this track, was really good fun :)

Cheers Kurt. It's a Spector US 5 string played into a Darkglass Vintage Microtubes Deluxe combined with an Xotic X blender to blend in some different clean signal. Found this gave it a nice punch and good sustain. Had great fun playing with my bass sound for this track

cheers guys. Pat great tip, i'll look it up and if i can't get on it i'll get on another one when it comes up!

I love the way you have made the drums sound like a train. It is good to hear a vocal recording on this course, this is the first I've come across. FYI there is a Berklee course on vocal recording techniques on edx at the moment - about three weeks in, but I'm sure you could still sign up. I haven't had a chance to watch most of the videos, but it looks good. These courses are like buses, you wait ages and then four come at once... :)

I like the sound Simon. The bass is awesome, just the right amount of distortion
