Hey all. I love music. Hey all. I love music. I've got 10 years of classical piano training (one year as a music major at the university level too), but I came to find I didn't like someone telling me how to interpret music. Mostly, I'm here to expand my horizons. I've got virtually no jazz/improv/composition experience, and like everything else, practice makes perfect. A friend got me into finger drumming via Mad Zach sound packs, and suddenly I find myself in possession of an Ableton Push, Live 9 Suite, a Traktor Z2 (I've done some vinyl stuff in the past and wanted the option to hook up my Geminis) and a pair of MIDI Fighter 3Ds. While composition is fun, my main goal is to create and arrange samples for live performance on the Fighters. But who knows? I've never even tried basic composition before, and Ableton Live is easier to use than I initially suspected. Win. I hope you like my groovy stuffz. :D

Progress:Rough Draft
Assignment 3 for the Introduction to Ableton Live course through Berklee. Went with a simple house track and let it breathe. 6 total tracks, 4 effects on one track alone (one of which is an auto panner I found in Max, two of which are different types of reverb that only show up as one effect in the plugins area, dangit), and I sliced the bouncy synth loop to MIDI in order to transpose just part of it. Might have been a simpler way, but that way wasn't very hard, I got to play the transposed part in manually which is always fun, and it meets our assignment requirement. :)The left/right staging isn't dramatic, but I did have to separate the drums and bass so they didn't stand on top of one another, as both were pretty deep. It worked great to keep levels out of the red (seems like Erin knows what she's talking about ;)). I'll probably come back to this and add some more effects and/or automation to add interest. Props to my man Five5Six for guiding me through the awesomeness that is the step sequencer, I actually made this track on the setup at his house while on vacation. :D

I got a chance to play around with Massive synths this week, it's definitely something I need to get my hands on. So many gorgeous sounds.

Certain to keep everyone on their feet in a house/club. Not dull moment. you got the bass to sound like it came out NI Massive! Lot of skill and balance in this piece. Don't hear any "reds" at all. Great clean separation and coverage of frequency/tone pockets. Very nice!

I like so many kinds of music, it's going to be interesting to see how that shakes out in terms of style. I like to zone to house tracks.

First draft. This one is going to let me play with automation and effects when I have more time.
