Here is a little remix project I started a while ago. For me a big part of blend is all about looking how people progress in their tracks. So here is a work in progress dnb version of a wonderful song written and Produced by Erin Barra and Miles Robertson
Engineered by Erin Barra
Mixed by Erin Barra and Ari Raskin and remixed by reiswolf :)

Rough Draft

Nop, that is the old preview ...

Ok. Added fancy pro strings, analog fake summing, everything more in the mix. However to get the breakdown right I have to add some volume automation. Btw. All the old previews are in the folder just in case you want to compare. And of course headphone mix ... just because I like gambling :D

Ok, rolled back the backup, found the old bass lines, bounced stems, copied the old patch, brought it back and made a chop of my favorite parts. However, the mix made the the bass louder, because, the stems were normalized. One step better. :) ... to be continued ...

@Hartmut Schmidt thanks for the tip! The original huge bass patch (called EMUEMX1) is a Korg EMX played thru a EMU sampler and further processed in a Kontakt patch. This is where I messed it up. Got a bit of luck, because at the time I could not save patches in the sampler and the atonal stuff came in the Kontakt patch.

There was a pitch drop programmed in the Kontakt patch. Like a bass player sliding into the note. But on short notes this was off. Now it cleaner. However compared to the older version it lost a bit of oomph. There was some doubling and optimization of every note, which got messed up. Still work in progress... :)

Heard it again - and again it´s nice! From 2:13 to 2:34 the huge bass is atonal. Go one, I am curious what you will make from it... :-)

Hehe, another headphone sin. Needs work ...

Added bass till the neighbors knocked. Guess it works :)

Thats right! @Kevin Lyons (Rogue) Have not done much bass work on my recent tracks. But I did a sound design session, to get some custom waveforms for serum, sampled from something probably nobody uses: a Yamaha ME-30 Electone . Fatted it with a nice old guitar pedal, I literary own for decades ;) Recorded thru my Mackie and using a kit of re-amp di boxed I own for a couple of months now. Pretty excited about that. All that is left to do is some custom patches, maybe end of the week.
