First off---there are NO DRUM SAMPLES in these beats. Everything was created from the field recording with a lot of processing and distortion. With that said ... I was out in the desert helping a good friend with a film project when I came across this barn door. The wind was blowing pretty hard and the creaks and groans from the rusty hinges really fascinated me. Suddenly, I was inspired to capture that sound, so I grabbed my phone, knelt down by the door, and recorded 2 minutes of random sound. A few months after that, I got the crazy idea to cut up that barn door recording and make an instrument rack out of it. And here is the result. I created three instrument racks in Ableton Live and then built drum loops with each: Industrial, Techno, and HipHop. If you launch each scene, there is built-in automation to change the tempo to match the beat style. The original field recording and all the clips are included in the "clips" track.
