Swifta Beater, aged 25, is a young producer born and raised in the city of Birmingham. Swifta was inspired into becoming a producer by a number of things such as rap music and loss in the family but the main reason was his Father. His father is also a musician so he took a serious interest in music from a very young age.
Swifta first started off experimenting making beats on a PlayStation game but less than year later he started to use his fathers’ high specification PC. Three years after, Swifta joined a Grime crew called E.O.G (Element Of Grime). Exactly four years after this, he then established himself in the Bassline scene, making a bigger name for himself as a producer and DJ. He is here now, four years later, trying to do the same in the Grime Scene internationally.
As well as being a producer, he can DJ and he is currently self-teaching himself how to play the keyboard. His favorite artists throughout time are J.R. Rotem, Swizz Beatz, Dr Dre, Just Blaze, Scott Storch, Sticky, Wiley, DJ Slimzee and Dillinjah. Surely some of the work from these artists are reflected on his work and are seen to be influential by the producer.
The producer and DJ’s musical diversity ranges from Bassline, DnB, Hip-Hop, Grime and UKG. Swifta’s first EP released on selected digital stores was in 2010, titled ‘Horror Movie EP’. From the year 2010 till now he has had a huge amount of success with all of his iTunes releases and is continuing to do so. Swifta’s talents are immense and in August 2012, the 24year old Birmingham producer shared with everyone the bassline driven ‘The Crazy EP’. As well as the bassline focused EP, Swifta has produced Grime EP (Matt Black), showcasing his wide range of talent. Swifta has made a big name for himself in the Grime scene by providing some of the top Grime MC’s and crews with his beats, namely Dapz On The Map, StayFresh and Roll Deep. His 2012 instrumental EP ‘Easy’ named after the title track, has proven to be very successful in the Grime scene. Also in May 2012, Swifta released a free EP titled ‘The Twitter EP’, which includes seven impressive instrumentals.
The young producer was successful in having his first song ‘In My Zone’ with StayFresh artist Macca play listed in 2012 with another song ‘I Do Me’ also with Macca play listed in 2013. These are some of the achievements that have come from Swifta’s hard work. The key gigs and performances Swifta has participated in are grime raves at Bombstore in Birmingham and Eskimo Dance in Leicester, both of which he describes as being crazy and energetic like it was 10years ago.
Swifta showcased his talent as a producer and DJ with his RWD Mix, which includes 25 tracks. Everyone from Wiley, Faze Miyake, Terror Danjah, Mr. V, Rude Kid, Plastician and the StayFresh crew were all involved in the Matt Black Spring Mix [1]. Swifta featured in RWD as one to watch in July 2012 [2]. He also was recommended by MTV’s Iggy as one of nine producers keeping Grime alive [3]. Swifta Beater was voted as ‘Hot For 2013’ by 1Xtra’s UKG Don DJ Cameo as well as featuring on Big Dada’s 2013 instrumental compilation ‘Grime 2.0’.
Swifta kicked off 2013 with his latest piece of work ‘Matt Black’, a grime instrumental EP consisting of seven tracks. The tracks on this EP are currently in high demand and they show the high levels of his production. ‘Matt Black’ is now available on iTunes a long side five other EP’s; ‘Easy EP’, ‘Move (To Da Bass) EP, ‘The Crazy EP’, ‘Horror Movie - EP’ and ‘Nuke Em EP’. Recently, Swifta has done some collaborations and remixes with some big names in the industry, some of which are; StayFresh, P Money, Scrufizzer, Big Narstie, AME, Cleo Sol, Miss Fire, Gunna Dee, Blade Brown and many more.
When asked what inspirations, milestones or significant happenings during his career that have effected or changed him, Swifta answered that nothing has changed to what has inspired him when he was younger. He still has the same drive and passion for music as he did before and we are sure he will continue producing music successfully.
