Class Assignment 3. First project was very electronic, second was a 60s record, so here I wanted to do something completely different. This has three audio tracks where my wife is singing, one with my "vocals" and one where I am playing the native american flute. I use Max Live Effects throughout, and a lot of panning - mostly side to side within instruments. But some locations for individual instruments. I converted my "vocals" to midi and played them. So some of the chanting voices are my recording and some are played.
I was having a hard time coming up with an idea for this assignment but then I saw a copy of Beowulf in my library. And that was my inspiration. But I wanted to take it farther and got to thinking about when disparate cultures come together. Another reference for me was the Morlocks and the Eloi in The Time Machine. So the first part is the darker side - the unordered. Then there is contact - which is a bit of friction. Then the more ordered side appears. Finally both interact. I know - not how Beowulf ended. :)
Everything in this was played in by hand. Tons of effects everywhere.

Scary Intro but very interesting and creative. As others say: Cinematic! The flute melody of the chorus is really nice. I wasn't keen on the vocal sound. I might pull the project as I'd be interested how you used 14 tracks is such a minimal way to create space and depth. Good work! :::: Please check mine out in The Hutch :::: https://blend.io/TheHutch

Thanks for sharing, would like to learn from experience in panning your vocals from side to side.

This track conveys the story above perfectly. And I think you got the Beowulf vibe right on. I particularly like the interplay between the NA flute and the vocals. This belongs in a movie soundtrack! ;-)

Think I am done, but I always end up tweaking before the deadline.
