This is a glitchy house song that I created with multiple midi synth sounds, midi drums, and a dirty midi bass part that comes in at the midpoint of the song. I performed all of the parts on my Ableton Push, decided on the appropriate sequence and then performed them into the arrangement view. After there was a clear beginning, middle and end, I had a lot of fun detailing the drum parts in the arrangement view by freezing, flattening, transposing, reversing, creating exponential rhythms, duplicating kicks and experimenting with some reverse reverb to build anticipation. At one point near the end I automated the tempo so that it slows down and then speeds back up again.

Thank you, @Matthew Adam. I didn't realize that I could teach until I signed up for this course. I'm learning a lot! I'm so psyched that I joined this amazing community!

@sassafrassoundsystemThank you! I did automate the tempo on the Master track. If you pull the project you can see exactly what I did...if that's helpful.

interesting track… i like the short slow down at 2:37… did you do that with automation on the tempo? the drums and bass sit well together. nice work.

Thanks for the feedback. I also have Maschine Studio as well and NI Komplete 10 Ultimate ( I have quite a few sound libraries like East West Quantum Leap and More) . I have not used Maschine much as of yet. Where I would like to go is towards sound scapes such as used as backgrounds in soundtracks. I would love to have a day with someone like Michael Giacchino or John Williams but maybe online some friendships will form to float musical ideals or questions within blogs. I do not have your resume or years of experience all I have is time and a mindset to move forward. Check out https://soundcloud.com/yourdaytosmile here you will find some of my attempts at finding my voice. I am retired so music for me is for enjoyment. I never seek just to be good I am know as someone seeking perfection (this takes time). Music has no right or wrong but it has to feel complete. It has to make the statement the write intends. I have been using Pro Tools 10 and 11. I have Ableton Intro and the trial version (something appears missing in the trial version) Mostly unsure as to how many measures I need for each instrument /voice as one could switch back between a musical statement from lets say a trumpet to another trumpet statement. such one being a verse and another a chorus. There are a lot of possibilities. The tempo and chord progressions all have to make sense. Being new to using Ableton it is like a three ring circus.

Really like the twinkling lead. It adds a sense of Whimsy to it. Nice work. Nice developments.

Your piece sounds layered, complex and well put together ... different changes throughout to give the listener wondering whats going to happen next and therefore listen till the end of the song!!! I am totally new to this 'digital' world...I'm a bassist and guitarist old school but want to 'broaden my horizons'
